NSCC Selected to Provide Adult Education Services
Nashville State Community College has been selected by the state Department of Labor to provide Adult Basic Education services in Davidson County. The program consists of GED preparation, ESOL for beginning English speakers, and Civics for English language learners. This community program will be located in Workforce & Community Development. NSCC Named Winner in the Toast of Music City
In The Tennessean’s 2009 readers’ choice poll, The Toast of Music City, Nashville State won in two major categories, Best Employer (First Place) and Best University or College (Third Place). Nashville State ranked closely behind two Nashville private universities for the Best University or College award. Over 200,000 votes were cast in forty categories. (July 2009)
NSCC Receives Pencil Foundation Award
Nashville State received an award for 15 years of service to the Pencil Foundation. Nashville State provides support to the Pencil Foundation through sponsoring, Career/College Fairs, providing judges for student competitions and providing space for training for summer youth employment. (May 2009)
NSCC Students Receive NSCS Award
The National Society of Leadership and Success awarded two Nashville State students with The Excellence in Leadership Award. The award is given to members that go above and beyond the steps for membership. (May 2009)
NSCC Named Winner for 11th Year in a Row
In the 2009 Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville Readers Poll, Nashville State ranked first in the category of Best Place for Continuing Education. The recognition continued a winning streak that started in 1998 when the Continuing Education category was first announced. (Oct. 2009)
