Once you complete the Admissions process at NSCC, you will be assigned a faculty advisor in your declared major. Your faculty advisor can help you clarify academic, career, and long-term goals, and provide academic guidance through the registration process. Some departments hold group-advising sessions for informational purposes.
Finding Your Advisor Online
You can look-up your advisor by logging on to myNSCC and click “Enter Secure Area” with your A# and PIN, then select “Student,” “Student Records,” then select “View Student information.” Your advisor’s name will be listed as your “Primary Advisor.”
You can then go to the NSCC Directory to get your advisor’s contact information. If you are a current student and do not have an advisor, please contact Records at 615-353-3218 or Admissions at 615-353-3215.
On-campus Advising
If you have questions about which classes to take, your faculty advisor can answer them. When you stop by you faculty advisor’s office, a copy of his or her office schedule will be posted on the door. This posted schedule will assist you in making appointments to get these questions answered.
Student Responsibility
You are not required to talk to your faculty advisor before registering for classes; however, it is your responsibility to know which classes are required for graduation or transfer.
New Student Orientations
If you are a new student and need to speak with an advisor about course selections, please attend one of the New Student Orientations to learn more about the college.
After the New Student Orientation presentation is finished, new students that have successfully completed the Admissions process will be able to sit down with a faculty advisor and register for classes. New Students that have not completed the Admissions process will be advised regarding missing information.
