With a well-rounded curriculum of technical, creative, and business courses, you will be prepared for a variety of employment opportunities within the music industry.

Technical Certificate

The Music Technology certificate emphasizes proficiency with professional recording equipment and computer systems, the terminology and operations of the music and recording industries. Learn critical thinking skills to resolve challenges and work effectively with others in a creative team environment.

Music Technology Technical Certificates Concentrations

Choose a concentration that aligns with your goals and area of interest. Need help? Meet with your advisor to figure out which concentration is right for you.

Music Production

The Music Production pathway prepares students for entry-level opportunities in a variety of music production environments. Students will master a variety of music production techniques, song & beat production, recording, editing, mixing, mastering, & live sound production skills. Learning is facilitated by utilizing a wide range of music production software and studio equipment. Music Production students will collaborate with students in the Commercial Songwriting pathway and Music Program to produce a compilation music project.

Career opportunities include Studio Operator, Producer, Recording Engineer, Mixing Engineer, Master Engineer, or Live Sound Engineer. 

Commercial Songwriting

The Commercial Songwriting pathway prepares students for entry-level songwriting and music publishing career opportunities. Students will develop songwriting skills, music business knowledge, music publishing goals, music marketing plans, song production skills, and collaboration abilities. Commercial Songwriting students will collaborate with students in the Music Production pathway and the Music Program to produce a compilation music project.  

Career opportunities include Songwriter, Music Publisher, Producer, Independent Record Label Operator, or Recording Artist.

The Nashville State Music Technology recording studio and music/computer lab feature a huge selection of state-of-the-art analog and digital equipment, a wide variety of acoustic environments, musical instruments, and systems designed to meet industry standards in each class.
