Step 2: Prepare for Your Career
You’ve racked up an array of experiences and skills; now it’s time to tell your future employer all about them in just a few lines. A résumé is required for practically any job you apply to. It is the first step in getting noticed by a recruiter or hiring manager. Before ever talking to you, employers use your résumé to decide if you would be a fit for the job, or if another candidate is better. Monster’s Résumé Examples by Industry offers templates and tips to get your résumé started.
Reach out to our Career Services team with any questions or ask for a résumé review. Sign up for an appointment by clicking here or email us at CareerTransferServices@nscc.edu whenever you’re ready.
Congratulations, you’ve made it to the interview! Interviews are where the employer can get a sense if you’re the right fit for a job by getting to know you. They are a critical piece of the hiring process. Start by reviewing the interview tips and professional expertise on Candid Career.
Shake out any nerves and feel confident as you walk into your interview by trying a mock interview with a member of our Career Services team. We’ll give you feedback on your answers and body language to make you a stronger candidate.

First impressions are critical. Employers notice everything, including what you wear. But there’s no need to run out and buy a new wardrobe for an interview. Our Career Closet has everything you need to look like a professional.
Step 3: Explore Available Positions
Internships are a great way to get your foot in the door of your dream company. They look great on a résumé and can sometimes be used for college credit. Use our resources to find an internship opportunity in your field.
As a current student or an alumnus, access College Central Network to find jobs and internship opportunities in your field. You can also check out upcoming job fairs and workshops sponsored by our company partners.
