D2L Resources for Students

D2L Resources

Need help using NS Online/D2L as a student? View the resources below.

Every course at Nashville State has a corresponding “shell” inside NS Online (also known as D2L). NS Online is where you will go to access your courses.

The Content section of a course is where you will find any files, readings, or instructions your instructor has added.

The Assignment Dropbox area is where you will submit assignments and files.

The Discussions area is where you will participate in online discussions with your instructor and classmates.

The Quizzes area is where you will take all quizzes, tests, and exams your instructor has assigned.

Your instructor might require you to take quizzes and tests using LockDown Browser or Respondus Monitor. Lockdown Browser prevents you from accessing other websites or programs while you take a test. Respondus Monitor activates your webcam to monitor for academic dishonesty during exams.

The Grades area shows grades and feedback you have received on assignments.

In addition to your NSCC Student Email, you can also send emails to your instructors and classmates from inside of D2L.

“Virtual” courses have scheduled Zoom meetings. You may also schedule meetings on Zoom with your instructor. Your instructor will provide any Zoom meeting links.

Service Desk - The Computer Services Help Desk provides technical assistance to students who are experiencing problems connecting to the website, logging on to their My Home page, and with functions within D2L Online courses. Technicians can view a student's account to diagnose problems in these areas and determine the source of problems. Service Desk technicians are able to resolve most issues upon first contact.

Learning Center - The Learning Center offers all NSCC students free, drop-in academic assistance with courses in which they are currently enrolled at the college. Services include access to computers for research, email, tutorials in course content, and software applications used in classes. In addition, tutors are available to help in many subjects, especially mathematics and writing. Free online tutoring is also available to students.

Mayfield Library - The Mayfield Library facilitates learning and research for Nashville State students, staff, and faculty. Fully automated, the Mayfield Library features an online catalog, ebook collections, and periodical databases.

Testing Center - The Testing Center provides multiple testing services for students including testing for students taking online courses at Nashville State and TN eCampus.

Access Center - The Access Center staff provides advising, advocacy, and facilitation of accommodations to ensure that all students have equal access to a quality education.
