Kurdish Language Class Offered at Nashville State’s Southeast Campus
For more than three years, Nashville State has been offering Kurdish language courses through a partnership with and financial support from Indiana University’s Hamilton Lugar School of Global & International Studies.
Course Details:
- Dates: February 19 through April 30
- Schedule: Every Wednesday, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
- Location: Southeast Campus, 5248 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Antioch, TN
- Cost: No course or registration fee; $95 textbook is optional.
This course, run through the Center for Workforce Development & Continuing Education, is designed for Nashvillians who frequently interact with the city’s large Kurdish population or those simply interested in learning Kurdish. It will teach both Sorani and Bahdini dialects, focusing on developing oral communication skills and helping students converse with native Kurdish speakers. The course will use a variety of teaching methods, including communicative and task-based approaches, while also exploring Kurdish culture. Instruction will be in a combination of English and Kurdish.
