Nashville State graduates with a degree in social work from the School of Business and Professional Studies may seek admission to the University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Social Work (CSW) through Guaranteed Admission or Priority Admission beginning with the fall 2025 application cycle.Guaranteed Admission is designed to provide a guaranteed admission pathway for graduates desiring a Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) degree in the Online BSSW Program.

Nashville State students who do not qualify for Guaranteed Admission may qualify for Priority Admission. Priority Admission is another transfer admission pathway, whereby Nashville State students, who meet qualifications, would be considered prior to those students seeking admission through the regular admission process.

Dr. Robert Mindrup, UTK Knoxville College of Social Work director of BSSW Programs and clinical associate professor, said, “As the land grant university in Tennessee, UTK has a unique mission to educate and train the citizens of our state. This partnership honors this mission by establishing guaranteed and priority admission pathways for Nashville State students wishing to pursue their degree in social work.”

“This partnership incentivizes Nashville State students to perform well academically and to complete their associate degree. Social Workers are the largest providers of mental health services across the country and in Tennessee, and we are nowhere close to meeting the demand. Through this partnership, we hope to move the proverbial needle by increasing the number of social workers who are indeed making a difference in our communities.”

The UTK College of Social Work provides a professional social work education program that prepares bachelor’s and master’s-level students for social work practice and doctoral-level graduate students for social work research and academia.
