Veterans Honored, Shrum Awarded Commendation
On the morning of November 11, 2024, members of the Falcon community gathered at White Bridge Campus to honor military veterans during a small but meaningful ceremony.
James Shrum of the Technology Services Division was awarded the 2024 Chancellor’s Commendation for Military Veterans. James has been a dedicated member of Nashville State for nearly 20 years, currently serving as the manager of the Communication Services department.
A veteran of the United States Navy, James served from 1988 to 1993, achieving the rank of E6. During his service, he worked as a Damage Controlman, overseeing firefighting systems, chemical, biological, and radiological defense equipment, and life-saving devices. He was also trained as a specialty diver and was responsible for emergency repairs to ships' decks, structures, and hulls.
James’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his dedication to the Nashville State community make him a true asset to the institution. His contributions extend far beyond his department, as he continually works to ensure the college remains a place of growth, service, and opportunity.
