The Central Sterile Processing Technology Technical Certificate at Nashville State Community College prepares students for careers supporting surgical and healthcare teams through the cleaning, sterilization, inspection, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. Students receive hands-on classroom and clinical training in sterile processing procedures, surgical instrumentation, infection prevention, and healthcare safety standards. Graduates are prepared to pursue national certification and enter the workforce as Central Sterile Processing Technicians in hospitals, surgical centers, and healthcare facilities.

Get the Best Education from an Accredited Program

Students successfully completing the program will be eligible to sit for one of two national certifying exams. They may receive a Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Or they may receive the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution credential from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
