Nashville State, Nashville General Hospital Strategic Partnership Producing Positive Outcomes

A year and a half ago, Nashville State President Dr. Shanna L. Jackson and Nashville General Hospital (NGH) CEO Dr. Joseph Webb assembled their teams to discuss pathways from the classroom to a healthcare career.

As a result, Nashville State’s School of Health Sciences and NGH worked to formalize the process where students conduct the clinical rotations needed to graduate from their respective programs at the hospital.

There are opportunities in all four of the college’s health sciences academic programs (central sterile processing, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, and surgical technology).

In a recent development, four graduates from the nursing program, who completed their clinicals at NGH during the Spring 2024 Semester, secured full-time employment after passing the NCLEX examination. All four accepted the positions, highlighting the valuable opportunity and enriching experience they gained.

• Sylvia Fox Ringenberg, medical surgical cardiac floor
• Zachary Szymanski, intensive care unit
